DISEASES - GLOSSARY
Abdominal Pain: is pain that is felt in the abdomen.
Gastritis: a mild irritation, inflammation, or infection of the stomach lining. It may be a sudden attack or chronic.
GERD: Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease is a digestive disorder that is caused by gastric acid flowing from the stomach into the esophagus.
Esophagitis: is a general term for any inflammation, irritation, or swelling of the esophagus.
Dyspepsia: is a pain or an uncomfortable feeling in the upper middle part of your stomach. Some signs of dyspepsia: heartburn, nausea, bloating, burping, etc.
Dysphagia: is defined as difficulty swallowing.
Hiatal Hernia: is a condition in which a portion of the stomach protrudes.
Gastrointestinal Bleeding: any bleeding that starts in the gastrointestinal tract, which extends from the mouth to the large bowel.
Peptic Ulcers: a sore in the lining of your stomach.
Gallstone Disease: production of gallstones in the gallbladder.
Hepatitis: inflammation of the liver, caused by infectious or toxic agents.
Colitis: inflammation of the colon, or large intestine.
Crohn’s Disease: is a chronic inflammatory disease of the intestines.
Colon Polyps: are fleshy growths that occur on the inside (the lining) of the large intestine. Colon Polyps are extremely common, and their incidence increases as individuals get older.
Diarrhea: is excessive and frequent evacuation of watery feces, usually indicating gastrointestinal distress or disorder.
Constipation: Difficult, incomplete, or infrequent evacuation of dry hardened feces from the bowels.
Pancreatitis: is an inflammation of the pancreas.
